More things to come

So I’m taking the day to get caught up on my blog. It has been a crazy couple of months. With my husband in college full time and starting out our First official year homeschooling I’m finally getting into the groove. For the next week or so I will have some new book review posts and Math Mammoth for Mosaic Reviews. So keep a look out.

How is everyone else’s year going? Are you surviving? LOL!

“‘“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’ Numbers 6: 24-26

I am Second

I grew up in a blended, split, mixed up family. I could give a years worth of posts on the subject and then some. The struggles I’ve had have made me feel alone and feel like no one could grasp the hurt, anger, and frustrations I had on a day to day basis.

Now that I’m an adult and the fact that I’m a follower of Jesus Christ has gotten me through all the struggles that I faced. I also have met others who have mentored me, although they are few and far between each other. There is just no way to walk up to someone and say “hi, I’m so and so and I have a blended family whose caused me a lot of struggles how about you?”.

I have recently become aware of an organization called I am Second. This is that organization I wish I would have known about from teen years through now. Below I copied and pasted what it says on their site about them.

I am Second is a movement meant to inspire people of all kinds to live for God and for others. Actors. Athletes. Musicians. Business leaders. Drug addicts. Your next-door neighbor. People like you. The authentic stories on provide insight into dealing with typical struggles of everyday living. These are stories that give hope to the lonely and the hurting, help from destructive lifestyles, and inspiration to the unfulfilled. You’ll discover people who’ve tried to go it alone and have failed. Find the hope, peace, and fulfillment they found. Be Second. -From I am Second Website

So sounds great right? I have spent my fair share of time on their watching videos and being encouraged and inspired. They have a video for all walks of life and all sorts of genres from marriage to success to child abuse to self esteem. Trust me when I say there is something for everyone.

A video that really stands out to me is Priscilla Nicoara she grew up in a country with no freedom and survived being aborted and lost her father the only person that she thought loved her. Her would be one day husband shared the love of Christ with her and she was forever changed. To hear more of her story and many others please visit .

I’ve listed some links below and hope you go check them out and share with your friends.

They also have an opportunity for you to give.

I’VE GOT YOUR BACK By: James C. Galvin

So what is being a leader mean? Well when I went to an outside source for the answer, because I don’t want Google’s answer, my husband asked me what my definition was. My response was well we are married my definition is your definition. LOL. His response to that was well there you go, there is a definition of a follower. Ha-ha! Yeah not so helpful. So is he saying the opposite a leader is a follower? Well I knew that. As for what I think a leader is, well I’m still learning. I recommend this book though if you are looking for a Christian perspective on the matter.

OK so when I first got this book I was a bit intimidated by the layout of the book because it was not the “typical” book format I’m used to . Every self help type book which is the category I would put this book in has a little example of stories from the past and then talks about whichever topic they are covering for that particular chapter. Well the author here uses a fictional story as an example for the latter part of the book that includes theology of leadership and followership. This type of layout helped me view what the author was trying to communicate through real life examples.

Another great feature is that you have the option of reading the first part second or the second part first. They also include a small study at the back of the book which you could use for yourself or to fellowship with others.

You can buy the book here on amazon.

To learn more about the book and the author also to see where else to purchase please visit their site here.

Thank you to James C. Galvin, Tenthpowerpublishing, and Handlebar Direction for Publishing for supplying me with this book to review.

Chivalry Review

“To rise from error to truth is rare and beautiful.” -Victor Hugo

I’m not sure what I expected when I received this book. It is an eye opener and full of the honest truth. It’s one of those books that you either agree with or you don’t. The author Zach Hunter brings about the issues of todays world and their lack of chivalry. He brings about issues that we all deal with. Some of these issues are truth, honor, self control and so on. This is what I would call a heart book. It deals with the matters of the heart which we all have struggles with in one area or another. I would recommend this book to any teen or older. I believe this is a great book to introduce them to the truths of this world. This is a great book to prepare the heart and mind for the growing adult for this less than civil world.

About the Author:

Zach Hunter is a college student, an abolitionist, and an activist who fights modern-day slavery and other problems in the world today. Zach has spoken to hundreds of thousands of teens in person ad millions by television, radio and magazines. sharing about God’s heart for the hurting and oppressed. He is the author of Be the Change, Generation Change, and Lose Your Cool.

20 Mule Team Borax Review and Giveaway

What is Borax?

  • 20 Mule Team Borax is 100% natural mineral from the earth. Once removed from the ground it is washed, dried, and boxed for consumers.
  • Borax is the common name for sodium tetra borate: a naturally occurring substance produced by the perpetual evaporation of seasonal lakes.
  • Absolutely nothing is added. No phosphates, chlorine, or other additive chemicals.

Cleaner clothes than detergent alone

To boost your detergent, simply add 1/2 cup of 20 Mule Team Borax to every load, along with your regular (Purex) detergent:

You’ll find that it:

  • Naturally softens hard water and improves your detergent’s cleaning power.
  • Helps keep stains from being re-deposited back onto clothes.

If you would like to know more about where Borax comes from and the history behind it click here to learn more. There is a pretty neat classic video/commercial for 20 mule team borax and how it got its name.

Before 20 Mule Team Borax

After 20 Mule Team Borax

So what do I think of 20 Mule Team Borax? I Love It! I wasn’t sure that the pants would come clean and they did. I think this is a great product and I would recommend to anyone. My favorite thing about this product is that it is all natural. With 4 little ones running around, I’m all about natural. There are also other uses for it. Oh my goodness I completely forgot that I used it to clean my seats in my car. I just dissolved some of the powder in hot water and went at it. It worked really well. I wish I would of taken pictures. But like I said above my daughter took care of that for me.

So now onto the good stuff. Borax has provided me with 3 coupons for a free box of 20 Mule Team Borax. Please enter below and share with your friends.

Borax provided a free sample of their product so I could review them. However, all of the opinions expressed here are my own.

Trash to Treasure Papermaking Book Review

Make your own recycled paper from newspapers, magazines, can/bottle labels, discarded gift wrap, old phone books and just any other junk paper you could acquire.

Author: Arnold E. Grummer

Publisher: Storey Publishing

Retails: 16.65

This is a great book for bored children during the summer or any school breaks that come up. It goes through the history of papermaking the supplies needed and some different techniques for papermaking. This it has 20 plus pages of different things to make with paper for gifts or yourself. The one thing that most tutorial type books lack which this one does not is nice colorful step by step pictures. They did a great job on making sure the directions were clearly defined. I would recommend this for all ages. Younger ones will obviously need assistance but like I said a great rainy day summer project.

*Most supplies needed you can find at home depending on the technique used.
